XFN is a response to FOAF (considered too complicated) and can be hand writing without tools.
Interesting proposition to get things simplier. Nevertheless, it might be too limitated for a complex problem resolution:
- no mandatory time is taken into account although relationship are time dependant
- can't describe family relationship for chinese for instance
- no namespace for concepts
- ...
